Abstract:
Faking vulnerability, employing beauty stereotypes and taking over gendered space, CUNTSTRUCTION juxtaposes the bare “sexy” female form with a rugged construction site. Created through the DAÏMÔN – Arts médiatiques artist residency programme in 2013, the digital stills in lightboxes and accompanying media art piece are deconstructed HD videos – compressed and recompressed, stretched pixels and blurred movement fills a broken film/video aspect ratio. CUNTSTRUCTION works to free the feminine form by empowering the body and reframe beauty in a potentially dangerous and unwelcoming zone. Filmed during the cover of night, the videos captured our mission into a widely socially understood: male only zone, hopefully soon to crumble, the construction site. High-fashion nude models, violated these spaces through after hours access.
